About the role

We are searching for a Python engineer who wants to join a team that is determined to apply proper software engineering principles to data engineering.

In Group Finance InfoTech we are well on our way to replacing our legacy mainframe platform with a native solution in Azure. Some of the technology we use is Azure Databricks, Dedicated SQL Pool, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Power BI and Synapse Workspaces.

We process large volumes of financial data, and we constantly improve our design and implementation to seek better scalability, lower end-to-end processing latency, and improved transparency.

In this role you will pick up stories from the product backlog, collaborate on the design of data ingestion/preparation and grow into a valuable team member. Over time, you will also pick up end-to-end ownership of features; all the while supported by some of our excellent senior and expert engineers.

About the team

We are a small, dynamic and international team of software engineers. We follow agile methodologies and apply DevSecOps practices.

We don't enjoy working in silos, so expect a rich environment that enables you to learn from others when you join us. We focus on outcomes, and we find time to develop our people.

One huge advantage is our teams truly own the end-to-end solution e.g. design, coding, automated testing, infrastructure as code and support of the production system. While Python is the team's daily constant; the team also picks up data modelling, performance analysis, requirements, data factory pipeline creation, Azure DevOps pipeline authoring, etc.

About You

You should have at least a few years' experience as a software engineer and understand data. It's not crucial that you have Apache Spark experience, but we need you to have a sound understanding of the concepts involved when processing large volumes of data.

This role suits ideally to someone who would like to grow in Python but is also curious and driven to understand and contribute to the end-to-end picture. Therefore the role would not suit someone who only wants to write Python code and is not willing to contribute to entire landscape.

Specifically, you have:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science, software engineering or other relevant quantitative field

  • At least 2-3 years' experience as a software engineer; preferably working with financial data

  • A solid understanding of structured data processing and data modelling

  • An appreciation of automated testing; you consider it essential for enabling software quality and robustness

  • Proficient English language skills (written and spoken)

  • Eligible to work in Switzerland

We provide feedback to all candidates via email. If you have not heard back from us, please check your spam folder.
